2024/25 UEFA club season (Champions League, Europa League, Conference League): List of qualified teams

Post by amenina »

As @TommyChat has posted, Vikingur Reykjavik from Iceland are the first team to qualify for Europe for the 2024/25 season, as they will finish in the top three of the league. They are currently 25 points ahead of 4th place Stjarnan, who have 8 matches to play (3 in the regular stage and 5 in the championship stage).

They will enter either Champions League Q1 (if they win the league), or Conference League Q1.

Current Latvian league 2nd place Rigas FS will join leaders Riga FC in Europe next season, as they will finish in the top three of the league. They are currently 28 points ahead of 3rd place Liepaja and 4th place Auda, who have 10 and 9 matches to play respectively, and 29 points ahead of 5th place Valmiera, who have 10 matches to play. They cannot be caught by Auda, and since Liepaja and Valmiera have to play each other, they can be caught by only one of these two teams.

What does 'Less matches awarded against' means as a tiebreaker in Estonia League?

Less matches lost on courts/federation decisions. It could be beacuse of spectator violence suspending the match (unlikely in Estonia) or fielding ineligible players etc etc.

Oh, this is interesting and probably rather fair. Thanks for explaining.

I haven't noticed this before, but it's nice to see Estonia using that tiebreaker.

Valur qualified for European football after their win vs Stjarnan.

They can't finish below 4th place anymore, and earlier this week Vikingur won the cup, which means 4th place in Iceland will grant ECL qualifying.

Vikingur Reykjavik are Icelandic champions and completed the league and cup double after Valur could only draw today and are now behind 11 points with only three matches to play. Their 7th league title, and 2nd time they won the double (after 2021).

Vikingur Reykjavik are the first team to qualify for 2024/25 Champions League and will enter Q1. Valur, who have confirmed a place in the top four, will enter Conference League Q1.

Conference League Q2: If they do not win the cup but finish 2nd
Conference League Q1: If they do not win the cup but finish 3rd

As it hasn't been mentioned before, just to add that HJK Helsinki also secured Europe last week.

Actually for Finland, to secure a European spot, a team must finish in the top two of the league, since the teams from 3rd to 7th will enter the Conference League play-offs to decide the last European place.

However, HJK did secure a top two finish tonight after beating Honka, as they are now 11 points above 3rd-placed VPS who have 3 matches to play.

So HJK will either start from Champions League Q1 if they win the league, or Conference League Q1 if they finish 2nd.

Of course they may also qualify for Europa League group stage if they win the Europa Conference League this season.

Astana joined Ordabasy in qualifying for Europe after they won tonight, as they are are 10 points above 4th-placed Kairat who have 3 matches to play.

They may qualify for one of the following rounds:
Champions League Q1: if they win the league
Europa League Q1: if they finish 2nd and Ordabasy win both the league and the cup
Conference League Q2: if they finish 2nd and Ordabasy do not win both the league and the cup, or if they finish 3rd and Ordabasy win both the league and the cup

FCI Levadia are the first team from Estonia to qualify for Europe. They currently have 63 points, and only three teams can reach this number: Flora, who have 60 points; Nomme Kalju, who have 42 points with 7 matches to play and can reach a maximum of 63 points; and Vaprus, who have 39 points with 8 matches to play and can reach a maximum of 63 points.

However, since Nomme Kalju and Vaprus still have one match to play against each other, only one of them can reach 63 points, and so FCI Levadia are assured of a top three finish.

They will either qualify for Champions League Q1 (if they win the league) or Conference League Q1.
