I think this was a big factor why they missed the group win, I already said it after the draw months ago. The goal was to survive the (easy) group and then buy a replacement. It was weird to sell their best player when the transfer window in Germany was already closed.
Now they did their homework, as expected. They signed former Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic (2m tall) from Wolverhampton on loan. Plus Hugo Ekitiké from PSG, also on loan (with an option to buy). So one clear striker in the box and one agile player around him. It was ridiculous that they didn't do their job before the season, but better late than never. For the midfield, Eintracht got Donny van de Beek from ManUnited, also on loan with buy option (11m €). He was outstanding at Ajax, but couldn't show anything at United (that happens to a lot of players lately, right?)

So they really improved their squad. This doesn't mean USG isn't a potential threat anymore. Very hard nut to crack for ECL standards.

UEFA.com didn't confirm the squad changes yet, but I'm reading news that Van de Beek wasn't included in Frankfurt's squad.

Poor guy... :upset:

From September to December he had nothing to do because Manchester United didn't include him in their squad.

Then when it looked like his situation had improved by joining Frankfurt in January, once again he wasn't included so still has nothing to do.

And the corollary of all this inactivity is that he'll also miss Euro 2024.
