Russia decided to stay a member of UEFA
Very interesting timing with the whole Super League thing.

No way UEFA will lift suspension!
They recently winked at Russia by allowing them to play a friendly vs Serbia.Jackson Harrison wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 13:12Was fully expecting them to defect.Nafi wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 16:11 https://www.lemonde.fr/sport/article/20 ... _3242.html

I bet they can't wait when they will be allowed to welcome back Russian clubs in their competitions, they just have to wait for favorable circumstances and a good excuse.

I have no objections to them being readmitted provided they agree to play under neutral kit and on neutral (preferably Swiss) territory.
https://en.uaf.ua/article/50299According to open sources, the general secretary of the Football Association of Serbia, Jovan Shurbatovic, recently confirmed the holding of a friendly match between the national teams of Serbia and Russia. The media also cite that the Serbian association has received official permission from UEFA for this game and has already agreed with RFS to hold a friendly match on March 21, 2024 in Moscow at the Dynamo stadium.

Don't see how they need UEFA permission.Greyn wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 13:40https://en.uaf.ua/article/50299According to open sources, the general secretary of the Football Association of Serbia, Jovan Shurbatovic, recently confirmed the holding of a friendly match between the national teams of Serbia and Russia. The champions league gives the Russians more money when they eventually play in it again so it makes sense for them to wait it out
It makes every sense for Russia to remain in UEFA.
1. AFC competitions are of little attraction for Russian clubs. Poor quality, hot climate matches, long travel times, almost no money.
2. Even if Russian NT would have managed to somehow qualify to WC via Asia, FIFA would never allow them to play in 2026 if war / occupation were still ongoing.
3. When the war is over and people are ready to play with the Russians again, it's far better to have UEFA membership than AFC. And some (although pretty low) remaining UEFA rating instead of no rating.
4. After potential switch to AFC it would have been very difficult to return back to UEFA (and the clubs would surely demand such return).
The whole switch to AFC affair was inspired by stupid populist politicians. Russian federation has so far managed to resist political pressure and do the right thing.

Absolutely.
Also I wonder whether AFC would ban Russia NTs and clubs from their competitions.
