A Dutch win would have been very lucky and against the run of play, but probably it was a penalty, I agree. He plays the ball, but before he already touches Depay.

All in all I'm quite okay with the game and the development under Flick. 60 minutes of dominant (despite Kimmich's absence) and attractive football away against a strong opponent and still undefeated under Flick. It was the first game he couldn't win, but there were enough chances to do it again. Mentality, body language and tactics have changed since sacking Löw.

Actually 1.75-1. :grin1:

Yeah Germany was the better team the first 60 minutes, Netherlands the better in the last 30 minutes. Germany seemed to get more tired in the end
1-1 does give a nice idea about the strength shown

With the CONCACAF Nations League qualifying teams for the Gold Cup now, the UNCAF Cup is no more. But it's been reborn as an U19 competition. The second edition has now concluded and it had a crazy final between El Salvador and Costa Rica, with the latter coming back from 1-4 down to win 5-4! :o

EDIT: It may have been U20. The video says U20, Wiki says U19, but the wiki for the competitions UNCAF runs says U20.

Opponent watch, USA beating Morocco 3-0 is an unwelcome sight.

Oof. Brazil not messing around, beat South Korea 1-5. Their next opponent, Japan, beat Paraguay 4-1, so that'll be interesting...

Morocco with a ton of shots, and incredibly wasteful. Yup, typical Morocco.

I only watched the 2nd half (and +/- last 10' of the first) but looked like a typical friendly, not much effort nor tempo.
Did Morocco start in a 5-3-2? Looked like they went 4-3-3 in the 2nd half. Morocco first tried 5-3-2 against DR Congo (first tie) but they struggled; didn't have much training sessions to get used to it though.

I only looked at the score, so I'm pleased to hear from you and Firnen as Morocco are a good team and it would be worrying if the US beat them in the convincing fashion the scoreline suggests and Morocco had been the high energy team they can be.

Ecuador beat Nigeria 1:0, while Uruguay lead Mexico 3:0 after 72 minutes, both games played in the US (I think).
Uruguay won 3:0, Cavani scored a double.

USA - Uruguay 0:0, Mexico - Ecuador 0:0, the Canada - Panama game was cancelled, the Canadian players refused to play, there's a dispute between the players and Canada Soccer about payments. The chaos that rules Canadian politics reached the soccer fields. Bravo!

Brazil beat Japan 1-0 with a (rather soft) penalty.

Good match for Japan (without all their starting players) given the quality of the opponent. They just need to figure out how to set up for more effective counter attacks - since in Asia they have the possession, but they won't against Spain and Germany in the World Cup.
